Our goal is for you to enjoy our conference, focus on the experience and never worry about the logistics. Huntsville is home to a variety of hotels. Some you may want to consider include the following: The Embassy Suites in Downtown Huntsville; the Homewood Suites in Downtown Huntsville; and the Westin at the Bridge Street Shopping Center. 

Area Airports

We’re thrilled about hosting this upcoming conference, and are dedicated to making it the most engaging, inspiring and user-friendly event. Huntsville International Airport (HSV) is just 15 minutes from campus and downtown Huntsville. Other area airports include Birmingham (BHM) Airport, 100 miles away; Nashville (BNA) Airport, 115 miles away; and Atlanta (ATL) Airport, 190 miles away.

Restaurants & Sightseeing

If you’re planning a visit in order to attend our event, this is for you. 

  • US Space and Rocket Center - Huntsville is the “Rocket City.” It earned the moniker after the Saturn V built in Huntsville enabled lunar exploration. No trip to Huntsville is complete without a visit to the US Space and Rocket Center where historic and current space exploration is on display.   • Lowe Mill - Lowe Mill is a former cotton mill near downtown that has been converted into an artists and community space. Lowe Mill houses hundreds of artists and their studios, coffee shops, restaurants, and community events. For more information and a calendar of events visit lowemill.net

  • Big Spring Park in downtown Huntsville is a great space for a refreshing walk while taking in the Huntsville skyline. Located outside of the Embassy Suites, you can walk through the well-lit park to get to the downtown restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. 

Benjamin Banneker Banquet

On the eve of the conference is the Benjamin Banneker Banquet. Conference attendees are welcome to purchase tickets to the banquet which is a celebration of planning achievements, black history month, and the legacy of the Department of Community and Regional Planning.
